A person who spiked sweets with sleeping medication and gave them to minors at a youth camp in the area has admitted sexual offences against two young males both between nine and ten.

The defendant was taken into custody after eight minors and one adult became sick at the location in the summer month.

The elderly man, from the Nottinghamshire area, admitted guilt to a total of 17 charges when he appeared at Leicester Crown Court on the end of the week.

Nevertheless, he denied one of the sexual offences he was charged with, which was involving a young boy.

The accused was kept in jail ahead of a additional proceeding on late November.

'Sweet game'

Mary Prior KC, handling the case, described the criminal behavior to the judicial body.

She stated his those affected were disadvantaged youngsters who were attending a summer camp which he ran.

The man conducted a "sweet game" with the children, Mrs Prior stated, in which he would access the sleeping quarters when they were settling down and tell them to eat sweets "as quickly as they can".

She told the court the man had played this game with the boys "for many years", and children had earlier experienced illness the next day.

She stated the man had been able to explain this repeatedly as the minors being "overexcited from fun", until his stepson had concerns in July 2025.

The prosecutor continued: "Recently" his family member had worries about the situation, justifiably.

"They chose" to examine in the man's possessions."

The prosecutor explained materials including infant oil, ointment and injection devices were discovered, and his family member notified the authorities about his suspicions.

She explained the defendant proceeded to conduct the "treat game" with six youngsters that night - July 26th - and they were all ill the following morning.

"Authorities" had not arrived by that stage," she stated further.

The oversight body, the investigative body, earlier informed that it was investigating the police response of the events.

The prosecutor explained the children were unable to walk properly due to their sickness, so the stepson notified the authorities again.

She stated the man then played the "treat game" in a room of five minors.
